from flat screen tv's, camping tents, linens to air conditioners to womens
lingerie PLUS the most incredible grocery selection i have ever seen in Mexico
or the USA. There are twenty kinds of olive oil, a bakery section, real
bacon, figs, strawberries, blueberries, cactus fruit, fifteen kinds of
cheeses and tropical fruits of every imaginable variety, heads of lettuce,
lalalala, ten kinds of coffee. its just unbelievable. (reprinted from Nautibeach VC news)

Garrafon National Underwater Park, Isla Mujeres Mexico
Snorkel the natural coral reef. Swim with tiny Damsels, striped Sargeant Majors, flat bottomed Trunk or Rainbow Parrot Fish. Located just 4 blocks walk from Casa Marlena on the lee side of Isla. This is the perfect place to learn how to snorkel from shore. Ask for our money saving tip: Castillo de Garrafon, beach and restaurant. Take a boat ride to Manchiones reef just a half mile from shore. Preciously beautiful reef in much better condition than closer to shore at Garrafon. Finish at the "El Museo" underwater museum: hundreds of ethnic sculptures of people of different eras. We saw a sand shark! 5' long...harmless to humans.
Awesome snorkeling in front of Casa Marlena
I saw a turtle in front of Casa Marlena! We have also seen schools of damselfish, an eel, lobster and manta rays. On calm days the reef directly in front of Casa Marlena rivals Garrafon. It is dangerous to swim here on windy days. Visit Isla Contoy, a wonderful bird sanctuary island, restricted to study and limited amounts of people. A great learning opportunity. This day trip often includes several snorkel stops, near Isla Blanca with lunch served on the Contoy Island.

Scuba or Snorkel with Whale Sharks! mid-June to mid-September
Snorkel or scuba dive with Whale Sharks, the largest fish in the world. As seen on the Today Show. Safely scary, these giant spotted sharks migrate yearly past Isla Mujeres. Whale Shark feeding grounds(plankton, not human) :o) are a short boat ride north. Experience their gentle presence. We snorkeled in a pod of 26 effortless, leopard spotted, surreally huge gliders. I can't express my wonder. You will be awestruck. $120pp 9/09 with Miguel and Sebastion (below). Their hut is located on the left (south) side of the Pemex Pier. Enrique is the owner. Deep sea fishing, snorkel tours etc. Scuba diving available. Multiple wrecks and reefs surround the island. Wish you were here? Playa Norte, White Sugar Sand.
Nautibeach #23 faces acres of clean, clear shallow ocean. The Caribbean is calm and languid here, wrapping around the entire north end of Isla Mujeres, from west to east.
Safety
Please be assured that Jim and I travel often to our properties. We email weekly with our accountant and friends living in the area. We know Isla Mujeres and to be a very safe and secure area for families, friends and fun. The Navy is permanently stationed on Isla Mujeres and patrols the sea. Mexico is very protective of its tourism. There has been NO violence in our areas. To be Minnesota frank, we are cautious about certain far western areas of Cancun City(not the hotel zone). We generally stay out of Cancun City at night. We also recommend some extra caution if you plan to rent a car and travel the Yucatan. I always recommend locking up at night and general safety conciousness anywhere in the world..
